The community:
A small town of 200 people located 40 miles northwest of Grand Forks, N.D., Forest River is home to the original Black Gold farm. It was here that pioneer A.E. (Hallie) Halverson planted his first 10-acre crop of potatoes. Located in the Red River Valley of the North, which is known for its rich soil and hard working people, Forest River was founded in 1887.
Operations:
The Forest River seed farm produces, stores and ships 100,000 CWT of certified seed to the Black Gold commercial farm operations in other states. The Forest River shop performs major overhauls and special machinery projects. A parts coordinator in this location procures and manages inventory of all Black Gold farms machinery parts.
