Black Gold Farms
Meet some of the
people at Black Gold Farms

We think Black Gold Farms is a great company to work for, but don’t take our word for it. See what a few of our employees have to say about being part of the Black Gold Farms team.

"I'm living my dream at Black Gold Farms."

I get to play in the soil each and every day and get paid for it. I have always had a thirst for knowledge and hope that I get understanding as a part of that process. Each day is a new experience living in hope of learning something that will benefit not only Black Gold Farms, but the entire potato industry and agriculture by providing food for mankind.

Working in a family environment with people you like to be around is priceless. I love the adrenaline rush of working to get the job done to fulfill a commitment that has been made. Each and every day I get to dig in God’s creation, watch the splendor of that creation develop new life, whether it be tuber initiation, a bloom opening, or even the development of disease as it crosses a leaf. I get to travel to places I have never been before and would love the opportunity to visit and assist any way possible at other farm locations more often.

I do not know of a single person within the Black Gold Farms family whom I dislike. Black Gold Farms is still a small enough company that an employee can interact with any other employee, including the company president or those on the grading line. Black Gold Farms recognizes the importance of continuing education of its employees and encourages each employee to take advantage of educational opportunities.

Black Gold Farms provides competitive wages, offers affordable health and dental insurance, and encourages employees to save for retirement. The Black Gold Farms culture is to meet the demands of each customer and to go the extra mile by providing quality products and exceptional service to that customer.

Gregg Halverson is a visionary and has the God-given gift of being able to convince each employee how valuable they are to Black Gold Farms. With his vision, Black Gold Farms has the potential to be the premier potato producer in the world.

"The quality of people that Black Gold Farms employs is beyond compare."

The most important thing to me to be a Black Gold Farms Employee is that we put back into the earth what we take from it. I am a very firm believer that the cultures need to preserve the earth for the future. I am very big into recycling, and have started the Winamac plant into a recycling routine.

Black Gold Farms takes pride in their company and product and that makes me want to perform my job to the best of my ability. You have to have integrity to be able to be where Black Gold Farms is today, and integrity is something that has been instilled in me since birth.

The quality of people that Black Gold Farms employs is beyond compare. Everyone has a specialty they excel at, and yet they can help in almost any other field. Everyone is so friendly and helpful, I truly enjoy calling or talking to anyone.

The ability to travel to the other farms and learn what I need to learn is a benefit that I value very much. I am a more hands-on person, and to be able to get together with someone who knows how to perform the job and can show me how is a very big benefit.

I truly believe that the conference at the end of each year is a valuable learning tool for all. I have only attended one, but am looking forward to November. To be able to get together with the other employees and hear and learn some of the problems I may encounter in the future and how to handle them is an extremely great idea. Whoever thought of it is a genius. Who better to learn from—than the people that have already handled the issues?

I am very proud to be an employee of Black Gold Farms!

—Marcia, office assistant, Winamac, Indiana
